How it works
How Crypto Wallet Recovery Works
A clear, confidential wallet recovery process from first assessment to client-controlled handover — fully remote, in Amsterdam or at another agreed location.
Start with a general description, not wallet secrets. A technically suitable case can be handled fully remotely, in person at our Amsterdam office, or—by prior arrangement—at your home or another suitable agreed location.
The recovery process
Six clear stages, with no secrets at the start
The exact technical route differs by wallet and evidence. The decision points and safeguards stay consistent.
- 1Before commitment
Tell us what happened
Share the wallet or software name, approximate year, device, problem and what material still exists. Do not send a seed phrase, private key, password, wallet file or ID document.
Result: enough context for an initial review - 2Usually within 1 business day*
Initial feasibility view
Once we have enough information, we usually explain the likely recovery route, the main uncertainties and an initial indication of duration.
Result: proceed, gather more information or stop - 3Before sensitive work
Verify and agree
We verify identity and ownership or legal authority. Scope, working method, fee and sensitive-material handling are agreed in writing before sensitive work begins.
Result: an authorized, defined assignment - 4Method agreed per case
Transfer or hand over material
PGP, our secure encrypted upload environment, in-person handover or agreed shipment may be used. We request only what is needed and work with copies where possible.
Result: usable material received securely - 5First technical view usually in week 1*
Technical recovery
We test the agreed recovery route in a controlled environment. You receive meaningful updates when findings affect the outlook, scope or next decision.
Result: restored access, justified continuation or a clear stop - 6Remote or in person
Client-controlled handover
Access is handed back through the agreed route. You open the wallet and move the assets to a wallet you control; case material is then handled according to the agreement and privacy policy.
Result: access and control returned to you
* Timing starts when we have the information or usable material needed for that stage. It is an indication, not a guarantee.
Choose the practical route
How we can work with you
The route changes where meetings, material transfer and handover happen—not the verification, written scope or security standard.
Fully remote
A technically suitable case can be handled remotely from first assessment through final handover.
- Verification and agreement at a distance
- PGP or our secure encrypted upload environment
- Remote final handover while you retain control
Amsterdam office
Use our physical office when you prefer face-to-face contact or the case benefits from in-person handling.
- Meetings and verification
- Physical-material handover and technical work
- In-person final handover
Your home or another agreed location
By prior arrangement, any suitable stage can take place at your home or another agreed location—including a lawyer’s, notary’s or adviser’s office.
- Meeting, verification and material handover
- Technical work where the location and setup permit it
- Final handover in the agreed setting
- Written agreement
- Verified authority
- Agreed handling method
- Non-custodial handover
For high-value and confidentiality-sensitive matters, a stricter arrangement may be possible where the case is technically suitable. Zero Access Recovery Protocol
Prepare safely
Useful context first. Sensitive material later.
Helpful for the first assessment
Tell us what you know
- Wallet, app or software name
- Approximate year it was used
- Device and operating system
- What changed or stopped working
- What files, backups, phrases or devices remain
- Your role if this is an estate or business case
Never through the first-contact form
Do not send these yet
- Seed or recovery phrase
- Private key
- Wallet password
- Wallet file or raw backup
- Identity documents
- A device or paper backup without instructions

What remains determines what is possible
If you already recognize the problem, these pages explain the relevant recovery method in more detail.
Control & outcomes
Who controls what, from start to closure
Authority, approvals and assets
- Your original devices and records until an agreed handover
- Approval of scope, handling route and any material change
- The destination wallet and final movement of assets
The agreed technical assignment
- Controlled technical work on the minimum required material
- Findings that affect feasibility, scope or next steps
- Secure return of access and agreed case closure
Access restored
We arrange the secure handover; you regain access and move the assets yourself.
Work remains justified
A longer attempt continues only while evidence supports it and it remains within the agreed scope.
No viable result
We explain the outcome and close the case. No recovery fee is due when access is not restored.
Verify before you trust
Public facts you can check independently
Practical questions
Before you decide how to proceed
Can the entire recovery be handled remotely?
Yes, when the case is technically suitable. Assessment, verification, secure material transfer, recovery work and final handover can all take place remotely. An in-person route remains available when it is preferable or technically necessary.
Do I need to visit the Amsterdam office?
No. Many cases can be handled fully remotely. Meetings, verification, physical-material handover, technical work and final handover can also take place at our Amsterdam office when agreed in advance.
Can work take place at my home or another agreed location?
Yes. By prior arrangement, any suitable stage can take place at your home or another agreed location, including a lawyer’s, notary’s or adviser’s office. This can include the meeting, verification, material handover, technical work and final handover where appropriate. The setup is case-by-case and depends on the technical, security and practical requirements.
Can I ship a device or physical backup?
Yes, after the case has been assessed and the handling method agreed. We provide case-specific packing and dispatch instructions. Do not send a device, paper backup or other physical material before we confirm what is needed and how it should be handled.
How is sensitive material shared?
Only after verification and a written agreement. Depending on the case, material can be transferred through PGP-encrypted communication, our secure encrypted upload environment, an agreed in-person handover or an agreed shipment. We work with copies where possible.
When will I know whether recovery has a realistic chance?
Once we have enough information, we can usually give an initial view of the likely route and duration within one business day. After usable material has been received securely and the first technical checks are complete, we can usually say during the first week whether there is a credible recovery path. These are assessment milestones, not completion promises.
How long can recovery take?
Some cases are completed quickly. Complex password searches, damaged media, incomplete recovery phrases and legacy wallet formats can require months of work. In exceptional cases, a technically justified attempt may continue for more than a year, but only while the evidence supports a realistic search and the work remains within the agreed scope.
Who controls the wallet and moves the funds?
You do. We restore access and arrange a secure handover; you open the wallet and move the assets to a wallet you control. Crypto Recovers does not receive, hold or transfer your assets on your behalf.
What happens if recovery is unsuccessful?
We explain the technical outcome and close the case according to the written agreement. No recovery fee is due when access is not restored. We also stop before technical work when the assessment shows that a recovery attempt is not justified.
Start safely
Start with a description, not your secrets.
Tell us what happened and what material still exists. The first assessment is free and does not require sensitive wallet data.
