MetaMask Wallet Recovery Service
MetaMask wallet recovery: vault password, secret recovery phrase and limits - free assessment, success-based.
Quick answers
Can I recover MetaMask without the recovery phrase?
If the encrypted vault still exists on the device, it remains a recovery target; remembered password details can narrow the search. Without the vault and without the phrase, nothing remains to search.
Does uninstalling MetaMask delete my vault?
Normally yes. The vault lives in the browser profile; recovery after uninstall depends on surviving profile files or a full-disk backup.
Some accounts are missing after restore. Did I lose them?
No. MetaMask re-adds accounts in order and stops at the first account with zero ETH; add the funded accounts further down manually.
Can MetaMask be recovered with only part of the phrase?
Possibly. MetaMask’s Secret Recovery Phrase is BIP-39, so feasibility depends on its length, the number and positions of unknown words, the known words and other reliable constraints — and a surviving encrypted vault opens a separate, password-based route. We check candidate phrases safely against an address you already know; there is no universal four-word cutoff.
Most "MetaMask is locked" situations are misunderstood. MetaMask stores your wallet in an encrypted vault inside the browser's local storage. Your password decrypts that vault; your Secret Recovery Phrase (12 words) is inside it. Once you understand that, every recovery path becomes clearer.
If your MetaMask wallet was created by signing in with a Google, Apple or Telegram account, that account is only half of what opens it. MetaMask documents a two-of-two arrangement: the wallet unlocks when you authenticate with the login provider and supply your existing MetaMask password. The Secret Recovery Phrase is still there - it is backed up online in encrypted form, and the key that decrypts it is split into shares that only come back together when both are given.
Signing in again with Google, Apple or Telegram does not by itself reset a forgotten MetaMask password. Before concluding that access is lost, check whether an existing MetaMask Mobile installation with this wallet can still be opened using previously enabled biometrics, such as Face ID. Preserve that installation and secure the available recovery information before resetting or reinstalling anything. Protect the social-login password as carefully as the recovery phrase.
What you are actually dealing with
- Password forgotten, vault still on the device: if the vault file survives, we can search for the password and recover the phrase from inside it.
- Password forgotten, vault deleted: without the vault (or a backup of the browser profile), there is nothing to test against.
- Uninstall MetaMask: this clears the extension's local storage, which is where the encrypted vault lived - what is left to search afterward depends on whether the browser kept a profile backup or the disk itself still holds the deleted files.
When professional recovery is genuinely useful
- The encrypted vault exists and the password is gone: the search runs candidate passwords against the vault file itself, and a remembered pattern or approximate length narrows it.
- Stop using the machine immediately: if the vault was deleted, the drive or browser profile may still hold remnants, and whether those remnants are enough for data recovery depends on the case.
- A partial phrase (missing or uncertain words) and no vault.
What is impossible
- No accessible installation, usable local or online backup, recovery phrase, private key or surviving device/profile data. Without any remaining recovery material or access route, there is nothing to search.
- "MetaMask support" resetting anything: MetaMask is non-custodial and holds no copy of your vault or phrase. Anyone posing as support who asks for your phrase is a scam.
Practical notes
- MetaMask generates a 12-word English phrase and can also import 12-, 18- or 24-word BIP39 phrases. One installation can now hold several phrases side by side, so adding one does not remove the first — only resetting the wallet destroys the existing vault.
- If you still have access, export your phrase and any imported private keys now - before the device, profile or drive dies.
- Never send vault files through a contact form; the assessment needs only a general description of what remains.
- A partial phrase may still be workable, but there is no universal cutoff. Feasibility depends on how many words are missing, whether their positions are known and whether a known wallet address exists to test candidate phrases against; every unknown word multiplies the search space.
